    Requirements for the BA in History

    Only specific courses satisfy the major requirements, including electives. Courses should be chosen carefully, in consultation with the Departmental Faculty Advisor and your Student Success advisor. See the university course catalog for spring 2025 History courses that fulfill these requirements.     Introductory courses:

    • 2 2000-level History courses (6–8 credits)
    • 1 Foundation course (3–4 credits)

    Other required courses:

    • 7 History electives (5 must be 3000 level; at least 1 must be 4000 level) (21–28 credits)

    Senior Capstone:

    • LHIS 4900 Senior Thesis Seminar (4 credits)
    • LHIS 4990 Independent Senior Project (4 credits)

    Total credits: 38-48
