  • Update March 17, 2020:

As we continue to monitor the latest developments related to the novel coronavirus, our decision making and planning are guided by our sense of responsibility to protect the health and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff. Out of an abundance of caution, the Welcome Center will be closed and all activities, including campus tours, have been canceled for the remainder of the spring semester. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. We encourage prospective students to take our Virtual Campus Tour and to sign up for one of our many Online Information Sessions.

    Campus Tours

We offer student-led informational walking tours of The New School throughout the year. Tours are a great way to learn more about Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, our Greenwich Village campus, student life, academics, and the admission process. These walking tours include a 20-minute university overview and a 60-minute tour of our academic facilities. The size of tour groups is limited. Prospective students should register in advance to confirm their attendance. Residence hall tours are not included in the campus tour. Please scroll down for additional information about residence hall tours.

    Class Visits

We're proud of our distinguished faculty and exceptional students. Experience a class for yourself by sitting in on a current class. Lang class visits are available Monday through Thursday from September to December and from February to April. To schedule a class visit, view the Undergraduate Admission Events Calendar.

    School Group Visits

The New School welcomes groups from high schools and community-based organizations. If you would like to arrange a special group tour for your school or organization, submit the Special Tour Request Form. Note: Special tours are available only to groups, not individuals.

    Dance Open House and Auditions

Lang applicants interested in the Dance program are encouraged to attend a placement audition. This event provides an opportunity to learn about dance at Lang and audition for placement within the program. The placement audition for students interested in the dance program will be held during Admitted Student Day. To learn more, please contact langarts@newschool.edu.

If you are not able to attend, you can submit a video for advanced placement in the program. Include a short demonstration of class exercise and phrase work, which can present a combination of genres and styles (5-10 minutes) and a solo work that highlights your strengths and personal style. Email a link to your audition to langarts@newschool.edu. Include your full name, address, and student ID number in the body of the email.

    Housing Tours

The New School maintains four residence halls in lower Manhattan, all within walking distance of our academic facilities in Greenwich Village. Learn more about Student Housing and Residential Education. Our Student Housing staff offers regular tours of the residence halls. The tour schedule can be found in the Related Links on the Student Housing and Residence website.
