Application Deadlines
Fall
PhD Applicants:
Full Fellowship Deadline: January 7
Final Deadline: March 1
PhD applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their applications by the full fellowship deadline. Current NSSR masters students who are applying for the PhD program should consult their department for the deadlines and procedures. PhD applications are accepted for fall only.
MA, MS, and Graduate Certificate Applicants:
Full Fellowship Deadline: January 7
Second Deadline: May 5
Final Deadline: August 1
Non-degree and Readmit Deadline: August 1
Spring
MA, MS, and Graduate Certificate Applicants Only:
Priority Deadline: November 1; rolling after that date
Non-degree and Readmit Deadline: November 1
FAFSA (U.S. Citizens and Eligible Non-citizens)
Fall Applicants: February 1
Spring Applicants: November 1
To be most competitive for admission and merit scholarship consideration, please apply before the fellowship and priority deadline. We will continue to review applications submitted after the deadline pending space availability in the program. The Admission Committee will make a decision on your application only after all the required materials have been received. Please email us at socialresearchadmit@newschool.edu to ask if we are still reviewing applications.
Prior Degree Completion
Graduate degree applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university or the equivalent degree from a foreign college or university. Applicants who will have completed their bachelor's degree by the time of enrollment may apply for admission. Doctoral applicants to Economics, Philosophy, Politics, and Sociology must hold a master’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university or the equivalent degree from a foreign college or university.

GRE and GMAT test scores are not required for any of our graduate or doctoral programs.
