    Campus & Community

Come to The New School and find campus life that celebrates distinctive voices. Build lifelong friendships with fellow students who share your interests, passions, and perspectives.

The New School is situated in the heart of New York City's Greenwich Village, with an academic quad that extends from 11th to 16th Streets along Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Rather than considering New York City to be merely the home of our university, we employ it as an extension of our campus and as an integral part of an educational experience that gives you access to the thinkers, doers, and industry leaders who make the city a global hub of innovation and culture.

Whether you're on our main campus in New York City or our Parsons Paris campus, the boundaries of the classroom dissolve as the city becomes your studio, rehearsal space, and research center.

Since 1919, our campus has been home to revolutionary thought leaders, change-making social advocates, and ground-breaking artists. Take our quiz to find out which notable New Schooler you are most like.

Live and study as part of a diverse community and make friends for life. In our residence halls, photography majors live with sociologists, and anthropology students with jazz musicians. Our four on-campus residences in Greenwich Village offer students the opportunity to live and learn in a nurturing, supportive, and collaborative environment.

Wondering what a day in the life of a New Schooler is like? When you study in the heart of Greenwich Village, every day is a chance to explore, challenge what you know and believe, and find inspiration. Student-made videos, stories, playlists, and interactive maps immerse you in our community.

At The New School, exploration isn't confined to the classroom. Through involvement with organizations on campus, workshops, seminars, conferences, public programs, intramural sports, athletics, and fitness classes, you will find a community of people who share your passions.

New School public programs and events, both in person and online, offer viewers a chance to ask questions, discover new ideas, make connections, and find a community of people ready to engage with what's happening in the world. Unmatched in quality and quantity, public programs are a hallmark of the New School experience.
