Learning at Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts involves challenging accepted ideas, developing your own, and investigating the status quo. In 2025, the Adult Bachelor's Program joined the college, with its deep and rich history of meeting the unique needs of students who bring academic, work, and life experience. This program offers the freedom and flexibility to study part-time, full-time, on-campus, or online. Develop and hone critical thinking in an intimate learning environment with small discussion-based classes.

Tyler Kelley

Profile

Tyler J. Kelley is the author of "Holding Back the River: The Struggle Against Nature on America's Waterways" (Avid Reader Press/Simon & Schuster 2021), a narrative non-fiction book about the men and women struggling to tame America's mightiest rivers. Kelley has freelanced for the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, NewYorker.com, Bloomberg, and The Economist, among other publications. At Lang he teaches News, Narrative & Design I and II in the Journalism + Design program. Before that he taught printmaking at Parsons. His previous projects include the feature-length documentary film "Following Seas," co-directed with his wife Araby Kelley.
