My work comprises sculpture and photography. I depart from the “picturesque sublime” and the fixed idea that my homeland, Canada, is a pristine, untouched country. From successive generations extracting natural resources, from mercantilism to present-day neo-liberalism, a number of factors are having a profound impact on the landscape. I use details from documentary photographs to inspire my sculptures. Through these sculpture I wish to explore the dynamics between the discursive and the aesthetic in order to create an atmosphere that I can’t quite put into words.
