Culture and Place: Libraries

Resources supporting your research include the university's libraries and archives.

The mission of the university libraries and archives is to provide access to collections of materials sufficient in quality, depth, diversity, format, and currency to support the research and teaching missions of The New School. Currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff can access our collections, including online databases (available on and off campus), using MyNewSchool log-ins.

kellen design archives

At the Kellen Design Archives, you can explore Parsons’ celebrated history in studio disciplines and design studies. The archives span Parsons’ history from its founding to today, conserving primary-source materials produced by our community, including illustrations, graphic design samples, fashion sketches, articles, photographs, and recordings.

ANGELO Donghia Materials Library and Study Center

The Angelo Donghia Materials Library and Study Center, funded by the Angelo Donghia Foundation, consists of a library, a gallery, a computer lab, and a lecture hall. The library allows students and faculty to review and check out state-of-the-art resources, putting the latest and most exclusive materials at their fingertips. Regular exhibitions at the gallery, run by a full-time curator, are open to the public, creating an open forum and dialogue with the broader interior design community.

Our students have access to other research resources in addition to New School reference materials and spaces. The New School's membership in the Research Library Association of South Manhattan enables faculty and degree-seeking students to check out books from New York University’s Bobst Library and the Cooper Union library and to read books on-site at other libraries such as those of the New York School of Interior Design and Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
