  • Rupert Goldsworthy is an Adjunct Professor in MFA Photography. He has been a member of the part-time faculty at Parsons since 2011. He also currently teaches at School of Visual Arts, the International Center for Photography and Pratt Institute. 

    His work spans art-making, curating and writing.

    Solo exhibitions include Ritter-Zamet Gallery, London; and Illuminated Metropolis Gallery, New York. Group exhibitions include the Tate Modern, London; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Kunst-Werke Institut, Berlin; Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art/Conservas, Spain; Paula Cooper Gallery, New York; The Swiss Institute, New York; White Columns, New York; and the Whitworth Gallery, Manchester, England.

    From 1995-2010, Goldsworthy ran an artist-run gallery project between Berlin and Chelsea, New York. He has curated over sixty exhibitions. 

    His writing has been published in the magazines Art in America, Artcritical, Artnet, Brooklyn Rail, Fantom Editions, and Sculpture. 

    He holds a PhD from New York University.

    Research Interests:

    Visual culture, the Cold War, artist-run galleries, artist-practioners and socially-engaged practice, colonial history, the iconography of Seventies radicalism.
