  • Brendan has a BA in mathematics from Columbia University and MFA in fine arts from Parsons. His academic training also includes a year in the MArch program at Harvard. Brendan has been teaching at Parsons as part-time faculty since 2010, first in SPACE and, since 2012, in the first year curriculum and in the MFA Fashion Design and Society program. He was awarded Mildred’s Lane Artist Residency and The Wassaic Project fellowship, and first place in the Gobi Desert International Art and Design Competition. He was awarded the Parsons Graduate Dean’s Scholarship in 2011, 2010, and 2009.  McCarthy is in the process of co-founding elLABel, a fashion label that will focus on integrating co-design/client collaborative strategies, applying sustainable and ethical sourcing methods. He was previously dealer assistant at Pace Wildenstein art gallery. Before his shift into fashion, McCarthy was fixed income analyst at Morgan Stanley (2000-2003).
