Profile
Yury has been a faculty member at Parsons since 2003, teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses in the Design and Technology program. In that time, he’s had the pleasure of teaching Major Studio, Physical Computing, Wireless Toy Design, Web Basics, and Mobile App Development. Yury encourages his graduate students to employ their existing knowledge, while endeavoring to master new disciplines. For undergraduate design students, Yury aims to illustrate the value of academic knowledge in the world outside of the classroom. In all of his classes, students learn how to take ambitious prototypes and turn them into well-made working designs.
Yury's work has appeared in Newsweek, New York Times, BBC, and the Wall Street Journal. He was an Artist-in-Residence at Eyebeam and has also exhibited work with support of the Franklin Furance. He was awarded the Ars Electronica Golden Nica for Net Vision.
He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and son. In his off-time, he likes to cook and is a veracious reader.
