    Profile:

    Fabio Parasecoli's research focuses on the intersections of food, media and politics. His current research focus on food design and in particular on its systemic aspects. Deeply involved in the international food studies movement, Professor Parasecoli also lectures at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo and at the Food and Wine MBA at the Bologna Business School, Italy. He studied East Asian cultures and political science in Rome, Naples and Beijing. After covering Middle and Far Eastern political issues, he wrote for many years as the U.S. correspondent for Gambero Rosso, Italy's authoritative food and wine magazine. He is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post.

     

    Recent Publications:

    Books include: Bite Me! Food and Pop Culture (2008), the six-volume Cultural History of Food (2012, co-edited with Peter Scholliers), Al Dente: A History of Food in Italy (2014, translated into Italian in 2015 and into Korean in 2017) and Feasting Our Eyes: Food, Film, and Cultural Citizenship in the US (2016, authored with Laura Lindenfeld). Knowing Where It Comes From: Labeling Traditional Foods to Compete in a Global Market is slated for August 2017 with Iowa University Press.

    Sociopolitical and cultural aspects of food, international trade and intellectual property in food, food and masculinity, food in film, food and migrations, food and sustainable tourism, food design
