Eugene Lang College demonstrates how vital and important a liberal arts education can be in the 21st century. Lang is a progressive college that is part of The New School, a vibrant, creative university in the heart of New York City. Our open curriculum
invites students to chart their own educational pathways with guided support. Faculty and staff advise students in discovering courses, civic engagement opportunities, internships, and events that will prepare them to thrive in a complex, ever-changing world and to make it a more just and joyful place to live. In 2025, the Bachelor's Program for Adults and Transfer Students (Adult Bachelor's Program), with its rich history of meeting the needs of working professionals and experienced adults, joined the college.
Addressing the urgent issues we face today, our interdisciplinary offerings affirm the deep connection between theory and practice—between the conceptual frameworks that challenge the status quo and the lived experience that manifests and modifies
those frameworks. The faculty at Lang and in the Adult Bachelor's Program is made up of world-class scholars, artists, public intellectuals, and working professionals who collaborate with students in small seminars and in the city just beyond the classroom.
I’m proud to lead this dynamic community and invite you to explore all we have to offer.
