Mapping the Human

In this photographic series, my goal is to deconstruct the body, both physically and figuratively, as well explore what it means to be human. In this series, bodies are contorted in the frame in such a way that they become fleshy, knobby, fist-like lumps of matter floating in space. These objects are then placed among appropriated materials that hint at some convoluted and distorted humanity. At times the figure reveals an arm or leg performing some kind of action suggestive to what it once was. My intention is to juxtapose these actions to create an arresting, disjointed narrative, prompting the viewer to question their everyday actions and possessions, and how we interact with them as humans.
