Parsons is part of The New School, a university in New York City dedicated to critical inquiry and social engagement. TransDesign carries forward this legacy as well as Parsons’ tradition of innovation in design education.
Leaders of the design industry recognize the need for a new kind of design education. Guided by an international advisory board, including leaders from design and business, the TransDesign program will feature sponsored projects and collaborations that will enable students to reframe the possibilities of design and pioneer new design practices.
As a studio-based program emphasizing collaborative practice, the TransDesign program will provide instructional spaces accommodating long-term projects, group meetings, and presentations. Students and faculty will work in adaptable multi-modal project rooms, which can be transformed to meet the evolving needs of the program and users. The spaces will support social and pedagogical interactions between students in separate pathways.
