Fast Track and Transfer Credits
Associate in Applied Science Fast Track and Transfer Credits
Fast Track: Qualified applicants who wish to complete their design training in a short time should consider applying to the Fast Track program, which enables students to earn an AAS degree with 34 credits in one academic year (fall and spring semesters). To qualify for Fast Track, students must have completed 21 liberal arts credits (including 6 credits in English - Critical Reading/Writing Course)** and 10 studio arts credits (or, for Fashion Marketing applicants, 10 credits in business) from a regionally accredited undergraduate college or university. Students are not accepted to or rejected from Fast Track; it is merely an option open to students that meet these qualifications.
Please note that Fast Track is not available for Fashion Marketing Online or Graphic Design Online students.
**Transfer credit for this requirement will be determined by an internal English Course Placement Test. All new students who are not native English speakers must take the English Course Placement Test, regardless of fluency, previous English coursework, degrees/diplomas from U.S. institutions, TOEFL score, or SAT score. Students placing out of ESL courses, will be awarded transfer credit toward the Critical Reading & Writing requirement.
International Students: International students may transfer only 15 liberal arts credits unless they have graduated from an English-language university. They can still finish the AAS degree in a single calendar year by earning required studio credits and/or English credits during an additional summer semester. Accepted students who meet this condition are not termed Fast Track.
Transfer Credits: All other applicants are called freshman transfers if they have completed college credits that will transfer into the AAS program but do not meet the requirements of Fast Track. The amount of time it will take an incoming AAS student to earn an associate’s degree depends on the number of credits both transferred and studied. The average AAS student earns the degree in two years.
Applicants who have completed a bachelor’s degree from an English-language college or university are automatically awarded 21 liberal arts credits to transfer into the program. Credit earned more than ten years prior to admission to Parsons will not be considered for transfer.
Fashion Marketing Online and Graphic Design Online students must have completed 21 liberal arts credits (including 6 credits in English) to apply.
Full-Time Study: 12 to 18 credits per semester.
Part-Time Study: Fewer than 12 credits per semester.
- Students can decide if they would like to pursue the AAS degree part-time or full-time upon acceptance.
- Students who do not need an I-20 visa can switch from full-time to part-time and vice versa.
- Scholarships are offered only to full-time students. All full-time student applicants are automatically considered for scholarships.
- Students must be enrolled in at least 6 credits per semester to qualify for financial aid.
