Co-Designing The Marketplace for the EATS Initiative

Exhibitions are on-going throughout the festival. Please check the Exhibition listings.

12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

A presentation of work designed by students in the Design Development course at Parsons’ School of Design Strategies and New York City public school students participating in the EATS initiative.

EATS is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to establishing community farms in neighborhoods throughout New York City, often in conjunction with public schools. The Parsons and public school teams worked together creatively envisioning and employing design-based strategies to further the EATS Initiative. The teams developed a new marketplace for produce grown and harvested by members of the community. The marketplace was designed to serve as a site for commerce and community gatherings as well as a means of promoting more healthful food choices.

This event is part of the Parsons Festival 2011.
