Following the release of her biography Leo & His Circle, Annie Cohen-Solal presents a lecture about the art dealer Leo Castelli, who radically transformed the mid-20th-century art scene in New York City and beyond. According to one critic, “Cohen-Solal’s ample monograph ... is a miracle of scholarship. Her reconstruction of the incinerated Austro-Hungarian golden age, including the world of Eastern European and Italian banking, is astonishing. And her telling of Castelli’s own life story makes for a great bildungsroman.” The short lecture will be followed by a panel discussion about the social, historical and economic globalization of the art world, featuring art historians and sociologists from Parsons and Eugene Lang College. This event is a part of the Parsons Festival 2011.
