  • Marie Johnson is an educator and a consultant, specializing in consumer behavior, "Why do people buy?". Marie is an instructor in Parsons' Continuing Education Department specializing in Merchandising and Consumer Behavior, a licensed high school teacher with the New York City Board of Education specializing in career development.Marie accomplished the following skills in the retail and garment industry as an entrepreneur and employee: buying, store management, marketing, merchandising, sourcing, product development, manufacturing, promotion, and advertising in national and international markets. Marie spends much of her time viewing and updating research and resources to enhance her professional skills.Mentoring present and former students are at the forefront of her interests and activities.Merchandising concepts appeared in local and national publications, and television featured interviews.Marie is known to the Fashion industry for her businesses innovative concepts: Lester Hayatt introduced "fashion camouflage" and Special Concepts "niche items" which were sold by major retailers domestic and international.
