The New School recognizes Local 7902 Academics Come Together/ACT-UAW for all part-time faculty employed by the university, with the exception of part-time faculty teaching at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.
All employees who either belong in this union or supervise such employees must thoroughly review the contract between the university and Local 7902.
ACT-UAW, Local 7902, and the university concluded negotiations and signed a Memorandum of Agreement on November 21, 2009. The Memorandum of Agreement lists the agreed-upon changes to the contract that expired on August 31, 2009. These changes will be incorporated into a new agreement, which will replace the one currently posted here.
Beginning with the 2012-2013 academic year, appointment letters will be emailed to a part-time faculty member's New School email address. They will no longer be sent by mail, as in past years. The letters will be emailed in accordance with the calendar outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and Memorandum of Agreement between the University and Local 7902, as follows:
Part-time faculty members must accept (or decline) their appointment electronically. The email with the appointment letter will contain directions on how to do that. There is no need to mail, fax or scan and send signed appointment letters as long as the appointment is accepted electronically.
