NSSR continues to find creative ways for emerging scholars to engage with the social sciences and the humanities from numerous disciplinary perspectives by launching two new programs that reflect the school’s spirit of collaboration, innovation, and political and intellectual risk taking: the Graduate Institute for Design, Ethnography, and Social Thought (GIDEST) and the Institute for Critical Social Inquiry (ICSI).
Dr. hooks was joined onstage by feminist leader Gloria Steinem at a recent sold-out event held in Tishman Auditorium. In their nearly two-hour discussion, hooks and Steinem explored the ways feminism has—and has not—encouraged transgression of patriarchy, racism, religion, and violence.
