• Health Insurance

The New School offers a student health insurance plan to all degree (including online-only), visiting, mobility (study abroad), maintenance-of-status, Lang and Parsons consortium, ESL + certificate, graduate credit certificate, and graduate and undergraduate degree non-matriculating students. Students enrolling through Open Campus are not eligible and are not charged for student health insurance.

The Student Health Insurance Plan is an integral part of the university's efforts to promote the well-being of our students. All eligible students are automatically enrolled in the plan upon registering for classes. Students who have a comparable U.S.-based, ACA-compliant plan that covers them in their place of study may request a waiver.

Spring Waiver Deadline: February 3, 2020

If you have your own insurance plan that is U.S.-based and ACA-compliant and that covers you in your place of study, you may ask to waive the Student Health Insurance Plan. Be sure to complete the appropriate form for your student status by the waiver deadline. If you do not take action by February 3, 2020, you will remain enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan and you will be responsible for paying the premium.
