  • The Fitness Studio at the University Center

    Located on the second lower level of the University Center (L205), this 400-square-foot space is equipped with a built-in sound system and air-conditioning. It has a full mirrored wall and all the essential workout equipment, such as yoga mats, blankets, blocks, and belts, as well as jump ropes, resistance bands, medicine balls, body bars, and dumbbells. This room is a secure space and is not available for individual use.

    Reiss Family Fitness Center at Kerrey Hall

    All currently enrolled students may use the Reiss Family Fitness Center, located in Kerrey Hall (63 Fifth Avenue), Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. No more than ten non-residents can use this space at a time. This space includes five treadmills, four ellipticals, two recumbent bikes, two upright bikes, a bench that can incline, a cable machine (with pull-up bar), chest/shoulder press machines, a leg extension/curl machine, a lat pull-down and seated row machine, medicine balls (4-12-pound), and dumbbells (5-50-pound). To access this gym, simply sign in with the campus safety officer and exchange your New School ID for a card that gives you access to the space. You're allowed a two-hour visit daily.     Gym at Stuyvesant Park

    Stuyvesant Park residents enjoy 24-7 access to a newly updated gym with two treadmills, two ellipticals, a spin bike, a multifunctional cable machine, and an assortment of dumbbells (5-50-pound) and medicine balls (2-12-pound). The space also includes two stability balls and three yoga mats on which to stretch and relax after a workout. Only residents have access to this gym, which is located on the SC level of the residence hall.

    Gym at Loeb Hall

    Loeb Hall residents have 24-hour access to their gym, located on the lower level. The space includes three plate-loaded machines: leg extension/curl, lat pull-down/seated row, and supine/incline/shoulder press. It also has two ellipticals, two treadmills, one upright bike, and one recumbent bike for your cardio needs and a range of dumbbells (2.5-35-pound), kettlebells (10-45-pound), and medicine balls (4-12-pound). Don't forget to make use of our flat/incline bench, step with rises, stability ball, and stretching mat. Have a great workout!

    Gym at 20th Street

    Residents have 24-hour access to their gym, located on the lower level. The space includes a cable machine with pull-up bar, lower back extension, two treadmills, two ellipticals, one spin bike, a flat/incline bench, dumbbells (5-50-pound), two stability balls, and three stretching mats. After you finish your workout, wipe down the machines and/or mats using the wipes located above the free weights.

    University Center Bike Room

    The University Center Bike Room is available for current students, faculty, and staff. This room is intended for parking (not storage), and bikes should be removed or relocated within 72 hours. Register your bike here.

    The Bike Room is located on the L2 level of the University Center. Use the service elevator to move your bike through the building. Bikes are not permitted in other elevators or on stairs.

    Each bike must be registered through this form. Once the online form is complete, you may pick up your decal from the Recreation department, at the third-floor reception desk in 72 Fifth Avenue (Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.).

    Unregistered bikes will be donated to Bike New York after 15 business days.

    Rules

    • All bikes must be (re-)registered annually (every fall semester).
    • Bike Room users are responsible for their bike and belongings.
    • Bike docks may not be reserved when a bike is not present; please remove all locks and personal belongings.
    • Each user may occupy only one dock at a time. Do not block or claim other docks to prevent them from being used by others.
    • Two locks are strongly recommended.
    • This room is intended for bike parking. Other items should not be stored in this space, especially if not locked to a bike.
    • Bikes should not occupy the same dock longer than 72 hours. This rule will be enforced once the room reaches capacity.

    Note that when the University Center is closed, you will not be able to access the Bike Room.
