Where are you from, and where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in China. I moved to California in 2014 for my bachelor’’s studies, focusing on multimedia and photography. I spent half a year in Barcelona as an exchange student during my second year of college. Currently I am getting my master’s degree in Fashion Studies.

    What languages do you speak?
I speak English and Chinese fluently and French and Spanish at the beginner’s level.

How does Paris inspire you in your work?
Living and studying in the heart of Paris, I am inspired every single day by the culture, people, art, architecture, food, and even random things I see on the street. I document things that inspire me, and I am planning to incorporate them into my brand collection in the near future.

What classes are you enjoying this semester?
Two of my favorite classes are Fashion Systems and Business of Fashion. In the seminars of Fashion Systems, with Morna Laing, I am discovering a global view of the industry. I have discovered a special  interest in seminars that emphasize specific cities. In the future, I am planning to create my own brand. Therefore, the Business of Fashion class, taught by Geraldine Blanche was very useful. It is a good way for me to start getting to know the business side of the fashion industry.

What attracted you to the Fashion Studies program?
Fashion studies is not a common major that all universities are able to offer. The fact that the Parsons Fashion Studies program is led by such amazing instructors with a big diversity of students makes this program unique.

Do you have a student job?
Yes. I am currently working as a research assistant for the MA Fashion Studies program.

    Do you have any hobbies?
I do creative direction and modeling outside of school. I also enjoy traveling and painting.

What advice would you give incoming students?
Try to use the great resources Parsons provides to their students. Make friends, build connections, be productive, and have some plans and goals you want to achieve during your two years of studies.
