Where are you from, and where did you grow up?
I am half French and half Lebanese, born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon.

    What languages do you speak?
I am fluent in French, English, and Arabic.

Do you feel at home in Paris?
I always had a connection with Paris: Being half French, I regularly visited the city and my family but never lived here. Finding a routine and building my close circle of friends was key to adapting to the Parisian lifestyle. Now that I can take the metro without checking my route on Google Maps, I can say that Paris is home and doesn’t feel like a seasonal touristic city anymore.

How does Paris inspire you in your work?
Walking down the streets of Paris is like being in an artwork, an artwork that changes with every arrondissement. Aside from museums, exhibitions, and its history, each part of the city is different and inspiring in its own individual way. The French capital has so much to offer, from the vibrant Marais to the peaceful Tuileries and Luxembourg Gardens.

    What is your favorite class?
One of the classes that I enjoyed the most this year was Luxury Systems, taught by Agnes Bureau. This course is an introduction to the culture and business of luxury: The organization, marketing, branding, history, heritage, and influence of big brands and companies are studied, giving us a comprehensive idea of their functioning and activity.

Have you done an internship? Did you enjoy it?
During my first year, I took part in two internships. The first one was very special: I was a backstage dresser for Jean Paul Gaultier’s final Haute Couture show, an opportunity that comes once in a lifetime. This experience introduced the backstage world in the best way possible; I got to meet some of my favorite personalities in the industry and looked at the brand’s archives. The second internship was during Paris Fashion Week: I was a showroom assistant for Oscar de la Renta. It was a very interesting experience, and I learned a lot working with their team of experts and interacting with the clients.

What does your typical weekend look like?
The weekdays are usually busy with work and classes, but I make sure to take the weekends off. During my free time, I enjoy walking in the city, discovering new shops and restaurants, and visiting exhibitions as well as meeting friends for dinner.

    Do you have any hobbies?
What drives me in life is continuously learning and discovering in all fields. I enjoy many different activities: traveling, knitting, practicing sports such as swimming and boxing. My goal is to experience everything life has to offer.

What advice would you give incoming students?
I couldn’t imagine the transition to this new life without the help of the faculty and the Parsons Paris team. I would tell incoming students to trust them and to reach out; they are here for you. In terms of professional growth, take risks, don’t be afraid to challenge yourself, and build your network as much as possible.
