Information On The Coronavirus

We continue to monitor and respond to the public health situation regarding COVID-19. As of March 26, most buildings on our New York campus will close until further notice. Non-essential staff should work remotely if possible. Check the Parsons Paris website for information about our Paris campus.

  • If this is your first time living in a residence hall, welcome! You will find this page especially helpful as you plan to move in. It includes information about dining on campus, what to bring (and not to bring), transportation in and around the city, parking maps, and more.

    Dining on Campus

All freshmen who live in campus housing are required to participate in a meal plan for both semesters of their first year (two semesters). First-year students are automatically enrolled in the Flex plan but may upgrade to the Fixed plan if they prefer.

All other students in campus housing will also be automatically enrolled in the Flex plan but may elect to participate in any of the three other dining plans or opt out of the program entirely.

The deadline for changing your meal plan selection is February 5, 2019. Visit the Meal Plan page to learn more about each plan and how to change your selection.

    Exemption Requests

If you would like to request an exemption from the meal plan because of illness or disability, submit your documentation to Student Disability Services. If you would like to request an exemption for religious reasons, contact Campus Card Services. All requests must be made by October 1 for fall semester exemptions and February 1 for spring semester exemptions. Exemption requests submitted after these deadlines will not be considered.

    Moving In

The dates and procedures for check-in and check-out are important. New students are assigned a move-in date on the basis of their floor assignment. Students and their families should plan their arrival and departure in accordance with the information provided below. Housing assignment information will be sent out during the second week of July and each week following.

If you will be living in university housing, you must show proof of immunity against meningitis ACWY before you will be permitted to move into the residence hall. Students living in university housing are not eligible to decline the meningitis ACWY vaccination unless they have a valid medical or religious exemption on file.

  • Moving Out

It is important that you complete the entire check-out process in the residence hall office to ensure that you do not have any extra charges on your bill at the end of the year. Whether you are leaving in the middle of a semester or at the conclusion of the academic year, you should plan to properly check out of your residence hall by visiting the residence hall office during office hours or by contacting your resident advisor (RA). During check-out, you will return your keys.

  • Room Change

Residential students who would like to change rooms should put in a request for a room change. Room change requests are reviewed on a weekly basis and take into consideration students' needs and the spaces that are available. As a first step, students are encouraged to reach out to their Resident Advisor (RA) or Residence Hall Director/Area Coordinator to explore roommate mediation or other interventions.

Beginning in the third week of the semester, a student may submit a Room Change Request Application to request a change, room swap, or pull-in. Requests are granted on the basis of the number of students seeking room changes, their individual room and building preferences, and available vacant spaces. Applications are reviewed on Wednesdays throughout the academic year and are processed within one to two days. If students are reassigned, they will pick up their keys to their new assignment on Thursday or Friday of the week and must complete their move by Sunday at 10:00 p.m. If students are not reassigned, they must submit a new application by the following Wednesday for review.

Spring semester room changes will be accepted through Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

For more information on the room change process, please see pages 19-20 in our Residence Hall Handbook or email us at
