• A successful outcome can only be achieved with wide-ranging input from the community. Here are several of the key ways in which New School community members have participated and can continue to stay informed as the search proceeds.

    Community Survey

An online survey provided one way for individuals to contribute ideas about The New School and the opportunities, challenges and priorities for our next president. The survey was open from October 18 through November 3. Insights from it helped to inform the creation of the position profile and shape the Search Committee's thinking about potential candidates.

    Listening Sessions

In October and early November, the Search Committee hosted a series of listening sessions to invite views on the opportunities, challenges, and priorities for The New School’s next President. In addition to several open sessions for faculty, staff, and students, dedicated meetings were held in each of the colleges and schools, with individual and small groups of university leaders, and with the University Faculty Senate, Staff Senate, Student Senate, and Alumni Council. Over more than 40 conversations, members of the Search Committee and our partners at Isaacson, Miller gleaned valuable insight that will help to shape the position profile and inform the search committee's work.
