    Advising
Ainga is a video project about a garment factory that my maternal family owns in an old neighborhood of Santiago, Chile. I started this project as a way to investigate the lack of cultural identity of the Chilean middle class, and during my research I realized this lack of identity is the result of a lack of class consciousness and an ignorance, voluntary or not, of historical conditions that define the contemporary Chilean society. My aim is to make an audiovisual chronicle of how domestic space and workspace are interwoven in this factory by exploring its social construction. By using documentary footage, interviews and text-based stills, I created a non-linear narrative about these topics, to delve deeper into the story of my family as an example of this middle class that think about themselves as ahistorical and apolitical.
