  • Continuing and Professional Education at The New School combines a contemporary approach to learning with practitioners at the top of their fields. We offer a wide range of subjects for learners of all ages, so you can thrive here whether you are pivoting professionally, jump-starting your college experience, or pursuing a lifelong passion. In addition to offerings at Parsons, you’ll find courses from the university’s other colleges.

    Courses are offered throughout the year in subjects ranging from graphic, digital, and interior design to fashion business, marketing, and the social sciences. We also offer summer intensives in art and design. Courses can be taken for general credit (non-degree) or on a noncredit basis.

    • Creative Writing and Journalism

      The New School held its first academic creative workshop in 1931. Today, non-degree students enjoy opportunities to develop and hone skills in the genres of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and journalism.

      Parsons design courses cover the process, skills, and language of fashion design, progressing from basic drawing and conceptualization to garment construction.     • Media and Film Studies

      We offer courses in subjects ranging from screenwriting and documentary filmmaking to digital storytelling, covering current media scholarship as well as the latest tools used in media production and management. Students apply what they learn in media theory, media business, and media technology in producing their own creative projects.
