Dr. Katharina Sand is a curator, editor, and researcher.
She graduated from Goldsmiths College in London, the Université Paris 8, and obtained her PhD from the Università della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano.
Her curatorial practice began as founder and director of an internationally renowned concept store in Geneva; she has since curated exhibitions at the House of Electronic Arts in Basel and the Centre de design in Montreal.
Katharina Sand has covered the art, design and fashion world as a correspondent in New York as well as a senior contributing editor and fashion/arts editor for publications including L’OFFICIEL Suisse, Bliss Magazine and Time Out Magazine.
She has taught at the HEAD-Genève University of Art and Design, as visiting professor in Germany and Austria, and as professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and at the École supérieure de mode/École de design of the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).
Her research examines the impact of technology on communication and design, and the resulting creative, socio-cultural and ecological challenges.
