• New Student Orientation

Orientation for new on-campus undergraduate and graduate students beginning their studies in the spring 2018 semester takes place Wednesday, January 17, through Friday, January 19, 2018. All new students are expected to attend.

New Student Orientation is about making connections with the university, other students, and New York City. It's intended to help students become members of our university community. Students receive important information about academic policies and the course registration process for their school and attend workshops introducing them to resources and services. Check back in December to view a detailed orientation schedule for your school.

    Residence Hall Check-In

All new on-campus undergraduate and graduate students will move into residence halls on Wednesday, January 17.

    International Students

All new international undergraduate students will receive a special invitation, sent to their New School email address, to register for the International Student Experience Program (space is limited), as well as special instructions for checking in to the residence halls. Be sure to check additional orientation information for new international students.

    New School Firsts

At The New School, first-generation college students are proudly called “New School Firsts.” These are students who have identified themselves as coming from families in which neither parent has earned a four-year undergraduate degree. These students will receive a special invitation, sent to their New School email addresses, to attend a pre-orientation program as well as special instructions for checking in to the residence halls.

    Parent and Family Orientation Program

Parents and families are invited to attend this special program on Thursday, January 18. Attendees will learn from administrators, faculty members, and current students about ways they can help support their students’ academic and personal success.
