• New Student Orientation

Orientation for new on-campus undergraduate and graduate students beginning their studies in the fall 2018 semester takes place August 19-26, 2018. All new students are expected to attend.

New Student Orientation is about making connections with the university, other students, and New York City. The week is full of activities and events that will introduce students to New School life, campus services and resources, their classmates and future collaborators, and all that awaits them here.

Check in later this summer for orientation details.

    Residence Hall Check-In

Move-in dates are Sunday, August 19, and Monday, August 20, 2018. Students will receive an email with their assigned move-in date, along with more details, later in the summer.

    International Students

All new international undergraduate students will receive a special invitation, sent to their New School email address, to register for the International Student Experience Program (space is limited), as well as special instructions for checking in to the residence halls. Be sure to check additional orientation information for new international students.

    New School Firsts

At The New School, first-generation college students are proudly called “New School Firsts.” These are students who have identified themselves as coming from families in which neither parent has earned a four-year undergraduate degree. These students will receive an invitation, sent to their New School email addresses, to attend a pre-orientation program, as well as special instructions for checking in to the residence halls.

    Parent and Family Orientation Program

Parents and families are invited to attend special programs during spring orientation. Attendees will learn from administrators, faculty members, and current students about ways they can help support their students’ academic and personal success.

Check in later this summer for details.
