• New Student Orientation

Orientation is a week-long introduction to university resources, expectations, and opportunities and is designed to support new students and families in understanding and appreciating what it means to be a New School student.

Orientation and move-in begin on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. Registration for Orientation begins on Monday, November 26, 2018. Watch this space for instructions for registering.

    International Students

International Student Orientation is a mandatory workshop during Orientation week, taking place on Tuesday, January 15, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. All new students, visiting students, and exchange students who are not U.S. citizens must attend this session.

New international students will also receive a special invitation, sent to their New School email address, to register for an optional program during Orientation week, called the International Student Experience program. Space is limited in this program, so be sure to sign up early if you are interested.

Be sure to check additional Orientation information for new international students.

    New School Firsts

At The New School, first-generation college students are proudly called “New School Firsts.” These students have identified themselves as coming from families in which neither parent has earned a four-year undergraduate degree. They will receive an invitation, sent to their New School email address, to attend a special workshop during Orientation week and learn about upcoming events specially designed for first-generation college students.

Visit the website for more information about New School Firsts. Forgot to acknowledge yourself as a New School First? Let us know.

    Parent and Family Orientation

Parents and families are invited to attend special programs during Orientation. Attendees will learn from administrators, faculty members, and current students about ways they can help support their students’ academic and personal success.

Information about how to register will be available in November 2018.
