Languages offers a selection of courses in language teaching innovation and design. These courses cover a wide range of topics, including innovations in language teaching methodology, teaching languages online, cultural context in language teaching, and using film and media in the languages classroom; curriculum design labs on special topics are also offered. These courses, taught by experts in the field, provide training for current and future teachers and for those aspiring to teach abroad or tutor. The courses are offered at both the undergraduate and the graduate levels.

    Open Campus Courses

    Choosing the Proper Course

Languages offers self-administered placement tests in most of the languages taught at The New School. Prospective students can request the test by sending an email to the Languages Office at languages@newschool.edu. After completing the test, students can send it back to the Languages Office, which will coordinate with a faculty member in order to assess the test and advise the student about course options.

To learn more about placement exams or to contact a language coordinator about an oral assessment, email languages@newschool.edu or call 212.229.5676.
