• New Hires and Status Changes

    New full-time faculty members, full-time and regular part-time administrative staff members, and current employees who have become eligible to participate in our benefit plans will receive an invitation via their New School email account to attend an upcoming benefits orientation. Please review the information found in the individual sections of this website.

    New Employees

    New employees become eligible for most benefits on the first of the month following one full month of employment. You must complete and submit your benefit event in your MyDay inbox within 31 days of your benefits-effective date. You can view the benefits orientation presentation at any time to review your plan options.

    Note

    If you do not enroll in the Health Care or Dental Care insurance plans or set up a Flexible Spending Account within 31 days of your benefits-effective date, you cannot be enrolled in these plans for the current calendar year, and your next opportunity to enroll will be during the fall Open Enrollment period for coverage effective on January 1 of the following year.

    Change in Employment Status

    If you become eligible for benefits because of a change in employment status, most benefits become effective the first of the month coincident with or following the date of the change. You must submit your benefit enrollment elections through MyDay within 31 days of your benefits-effective date. (Note: If you do not enroll in the Health Care or Dental Care insurance plan or in the Flexible Spending Account Plan within 31 days of your benefits-effective date, you cannot be enrolled in these plans for the current calendar year, and your next opportunity to enroll will be during the fall Open Enrollment period for coverage effective on January 1 of the following year.)
