Designed for both aspiring and working teachers, courses in this fully online certificate program emphasize communicative, student-centered, culturally sensitive learning. This highly regarded program awards a Certificate in Teaching English (CTE) for successful completion of a structured curriculum of five courses, including a minimum of 30 hours of student teaching. The program equips students with skills that are readily applicable to online and in-person classroom teaching and tutoring in the United States and abroad.
Students can take courses on a noncredit basis, and matriculated students at The New School can take courses for undergraduate credit, earning the CTE while completing their degree.
