• Early Application Options

  • Applicants to undergraduate programs at The New School’s Parsons School of Design, Parsons Paris, Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, and School of Drama can consider early application options if they are certain that The New School is their top choice.

Students cannot apply more than once in an academic year.

Students may not reapply for Regular Decision if they apply through an early application option and are not admitted. Applications may be rolled over to Regular Decision if additional information is needed to render a decision.

    Early Decision Admission

High school seniors whose first college choice is Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, Parsons Paris, or Parsons School of Design may apply under the Early Decision program and receive an admission decision in mid- to late December. Early Decision applications are due November 1. Required portfolios are due no later than November 10.

Early decision is binding. Students offered admission under the Early Decision program are expected to enroll at The New School and withdraw applications and refrain from filing new applications to any other universities. Students who are interested in an early decision but not binding admission should apply through Early Action.

Please note that the following programs are not eligible for Early Decision:

    • BFA in Jazz and Contemporary Music
    • BFA in Dramatic Arts
    • All undergraduate programs offered through Mannes School of Music
    • Lang/Jazz BA/BFA dual-degree program
    • Bachelor’s Program for Adults and Transfer Students
    • Parsons AAS programs

    Early Action Admission

High school seniors whose first college choice is Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, Parsons Paris, Parsons School of Design, or the School of Drama may apply under the Early Action program and receive an admission decision between mid-December and late January. EA applications are due November 1. Required portfolios are due by November 10.

Early Action is a non-binding option in which students apply before the regular decision deadline and receive a decision earlier but are not obligated to enroll if accepted. It allows students to get an early sense of their college options without the need to make a commitment as in Early Decision.

Please note the following programs are not eligible for Early Action:

    • BFA in Jazz and Contemporary Music
    • All undergraduate programs offered through Mannes School of Music
    • Lang/Jazz BA/BFA dual-degree program
    • Bachelor’s Program for Adults and Transfer Students
    • Parsons AAS programs

    Financial Aid

U.S. citizens or permanent residents applying to The New School through early application options receive a financial aid award estimate at the time of admission if they have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application. Students whose financial aid award is not enough to make attending The New School possible are encouraged to contact the Office of Admission and the Office of Financial Aid to discuss their options.
