Cheryl Clark, MS, Certified Movement Analyst (CMA) is a dancer, registered dance movement therapist (R-DMT), choreographer and teacher whose interest lies in the integration between the physical and the psyche and how that is performed in daily and stage life. As a dancer/choreographer she has performed with various independent dance and theater companies. She choreographed critically acclaimed productions of Sense and Sensibility and Romeo and Juliet for the Shakespeare Theater of NJ. She is a senior teacher for the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies, teaching and coordinating for the Certification in Laban Movement Studies in New York and Taiwan and also teaches at Wagner College. She has taught improvisation, modern, musical theatre, choreography, anatomy and kinesiology, Somatics, and dance history. She has taught at numerous colleges and schools including Marymount Manhattan College, Drew University in addition to guest teaching at many colleges. She has taught moved based acting for Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey, School for Film and Television, and American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She has worked with members from Metropolitan Opera, City Opera and from companies abroad. She has presented workshops and papers for the Korean Dance Therapy Association, Shanghai Theatre International Forum on Actor Training and Education, and Theaterzwang Festival in Germany. She continues to serve on panels and presenting workshops looking at social justice in the somatic/perfromance spaces and in therapeutic situations. She is also a certified practitioner of Body-Mind Centering Practitioner®, Registered Movement Therapist/Educator with the International Somatic Movement and Therapy Association, a certified yoga and pre-natal yoga instructor.
