The School of Drama is a shared graduate and undergraduate
learning environment in the historic Westbeth Artists complex in Greenwich
Village. Together with the School of Jazz and Mannes School of Music we form the
College of Performing Arts at The New School.
Our award-winning faculty of master teachers and working professionals provide students with a high level of artistic training, project-based learning, consistent performance opportunities, and skills that can be applied to a variety of 21st-century career choices.
BFA students have access to top design, music, liberal arts, and social science courses offered throughout the university.
MFA level, we are a generative center of practice and production for a select ensemble of forward-thinking emerging professionals.
We offer connections to excellent downtown theater companies, and our location in New York City offers proximity to the art world across every medium and discipline. An education at the School of Drama offers unparalleled opportunities to our courageous and engaged community of artists.
The future of theater will be ignited by those who can creatively collaborate across many disciplines. Our university offers you the option of infusing your curriculum with elements of art, literature, history, journalism, and more. We encourage you to consider courses offered at Mannes School of Music,
Parsons School of Design, and Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts.
Additionally, our highly regarded COLLABS offer our BFA students the opportunity to work side by side with Parsons design students, exploring the vocabulary, techniques, opportunities, and challenges of interdisciplinary collaboration as an active creative process.
