    Chaelon Costello


    Chaelon Costello (they/she) is an actor, writer, and movement artist based in Brooklyn. A two-time nominee for both the Distinguished University Teaching Award and Achievements in Social Justice Teaching, Chaelon serves as a Professor, First Year Coordinator, audition adjudicator, and a founding member of the Cultural Change Task Force for The New School. The 2019 Innovations in Education Fund awarded Chaelon a team grant winner on project: Intimacy In Performance with colleague, Glynis Rigsby. Their class roster has included Foundations in Acting I and II, Intermediate Acting: Classical Technique, Small Group Lessons, Performance Preparation, Portfolio: Reflective Practice, Directed Research: Devised, Directed Research: Thesis, and CoPA’s Whole Human Artist. Chaelon has been tapped for curriculum development in the remote learning transition, CoPA Core, and Freshman Orientation. For CoPA Drama, Chaelon co-directed devised work: Ursa Minor with Glynis Rigsby and participated as text coach for Feigned Courtesans. As a movement director, Chaelon has choreographed Medea (Drama), A Soldier's Tale (Mannes), and The Motherf**ker with the Hat at City College. At Fordham University, Chaelon joined as a Guest Artist, working with the MFA playwrights in Devised Theatre and Collaboration (2014). They are a Resident Teacher with the Williamstown Theatre Festival (2018, 2019) and have taught in Residence at Bethel Woods Center for the Performing Arts. Currently, Chaelon is developing a television series with wife and collaborator, Liza Bennett. As an actor, Chaelon has joined invited workshops at BAM, The Old Vic, and with Frantic Assembly.
