    Christopher Shinn

    Profile

    Christopher Shinn made his playwriting debut in 1998 with Four at the Royal Court Theatre. His other plays include Where Do We Live (Obie in Playwriting), Dying City (Pulitzer Prize finalist)Now or Later (Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Play shortlist), Teddy Ferrara, and Against.


    His work has been produced at the Royal Court, Donmar Warehouse, Almeida Theatre, Lincoln Center Theater, Manhattan Theatre Club, Vineyard Theatre, Playwrights Horizons, Goodman Theatre, South Coast Rep, and Hartford Stage, among others. His adaptation of Hedda Gabler premiered on Broadway in 2009 and in 2019, his adaptation of Judgment Day premiered at Park Avenue Armory (Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding Adaptation). 

     

    Shinn received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2005, a Radcliffe Fellowship in 2019, and a Cullman Fellowship in 2020. He has received grants from the NEA/TCG Residency Program and the Peter S. Reed Foundation, and he is recipient of the Robert S. Chesley Award. His plays are published by Methuen and TCG.
