    The Lacer
For my project, I created the Lacer, an adaptive shoelace accessory that enables people with decreased hand dexterity to tie their shoelaces independently and efficiently with a single hand. From a young age, we’re taught how to tie our shoelaces. It’s a simple everyday task that we don’t think twice about. But what if you could only use one hand for the rest of your life? This once simple task now becomes a frustrating struggle. After a stroke, about 65 percent of survivors are left with decreased hand dexterity and struggle to incorporate their affected hand into their usual activities. The Lacer is desigend to help these individuals preserve a part of their daily routine.
