  • Magnetic Paper Theater

    Advising

This product was designed for all ages. But at its core, it is meant to serve as a space for kids to let loose their imagination and to inspire a love of acting and theater. Primarily made of paper and wood, this product comes in a board-game box, which can be unpacked and assembled to create a 3D space with interchangeable sets and characters. The characters are controlled by magnetic paddles underneath the stage, creating the illusion of magical unassisted movement. The goal of this project was to let kids tell stories and live vicariously through their favorite characters in locations as far-reaching as outer space or the bottom of the sea. Unlike most child-oriented products, this theater comes with a palette of black, white, wood, and craft-paper brown, making it an aesthetically minimal art object as well as a toy. behance.net/samuelshumway
