Tamar Samir is a mission-driven multi-disciplinary designer, creative director, and design educator (teaching at Parsons since 2001). Her award-winning design work has been published in Eye, Design in Motion, Print, Stash, and Step Inside Design. Tamar has worked as a motion designer, art director, and creative director shaping the design direction of major brands such as MAC Cosmetics, MTV, AMC, Spike, Logo, CNN, and Lifetime. She was most recently Creative Director at Nickelodeon/MTV Networks, directing the on-air and off-air brand, and won multiple broadcast design awards (BDA) for her work at Nickelodeon. Tamar sees designers as socially-engaged leaders and empowers her students to make a positive real-world impact in their work, with an emphasis on environmental, social justice, and ethical considerations.
