Born in Beirut during the civil war, she grew up, worked, and studied internationally, in Lebanon, USA, Canada, UAE, Holland, UK, Morocco and France. Hala’s multicultural background is reflected in her versatile diverse approach and interest in design, culture, identity, and business where she has continuously transcended stereotypes and challenged the status quo. Her transdisciplinary experience marries management, strategy, content, curation, leadership, entrepreneurship and communication with design in the for-profit and non-profit worlds, as well as research and education across four continents. Hala is the co-founder of Design and Flow, a strategic design collective that works on social and environmental impact projects. Her work has been featured and published in Print Magazine, Design Indaba, Metropolis, AIGA, Beirut Design Week, NYC x Design, Wanted Design NYC, Smithsonian Media, MOMA and SXSW, where she was awarded the Learn by Design award for her work on refugees. Hala's skills, experience and education are balanced to examine and weave the relationship between design and management as well as using the power of strategy as a way to join the creative with the problem-solving and decision-making processes of business and design. She also sits on the advisory boards of Fadi J Khoury Dance Company and LebMASH Foundation, supporting the arts and underserved minorities. A cultural architect, Hala is dedicated to continuously changing mindsets and making a difference in her work; she was selected by Cadillac as part of the Dare Greatly, Arabs of New York campaign that celebrated passionate creatives who have jumped hurdles and dared to pursue their dreams. Hala is currently Associate Director of Strategic Design and Management BBA and is Associate Professor of Design Strategies at Parsons School of Design. She also serves as an advisor of the YMA scholarship fund for The New School.
