    Profile

Chris is a writer, new product developer, producer and educator who helps people articulate and justify their motivations for making everything from dances to electronics. As a collaborator with engineering and innovation teams from companies such as Epson, Lexis-Nexis, SAP and Nationwide Insurance she has helped develop products, services and processes for generating and evaluating "good ideas". In non-profit management, Chris worked alongside MacArthur "Genius" choreographers, Elizabeth Streb and Trisha Brown. At the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Chris spent five years advocating for, evaluating and managing funding to visionary American artists and organizations including Bang on a Can, Merce Cunningham, Appalshop/Roadside Theater, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and the American Music Center. During that time she served on the NY Grantmakers in the Arts Dance Task Force, the Dance/NYC Advisory Committee and managed the distribution of $20 million in grants to NYC cultural organizations affected by the events of 9/11. Chris is also a poet, a choreographer and a performer. As co-creator of the phantom Organization for Better Underground Living (OBUL) and author of its Singles' Car initiative, she unilaterally declared "the first car of every subway train running in New York City's five boroughsa free zone for unattached New Yorkers to meet the commuter of their dreams", receiving international press attention for this utopian suggestion. Chris holds a BA in Dance and English Literature from Washington University in St. Louis and an MFA in Creative Writing from Sarah Lawrence College.
