High-Risk Travel Periods

International students and exchange visitors must always exercise caution when traveling. Re-entry to the United States is always at the discretion of Customs and Border Protection, even for those who have valid travel signatures and documents. Although most international students and exchange visitors will not encounter any difficulties when entering the United States, certain situations pose a heightened risk.

Please be advised about the high-risk travel periods described below and contact an ISSS advisor if you have concerns or plans to travel during these periods. Please contact the ISSS emergency line at 212.229.7001 for assistance with any immigration-related emergencies during entry to the United States.
