Jobs & Gigs

To find part-time, full-time, seasonal, temporary, freelance, or contract-based employment, including internships, use our online jobs board, Handshake. To get the greatest possible return in searching the listings, select only active jobs and leave all other search criteria blank.

Also use the domestic and global job board GoinGlobal (accessed through MyNewSchool under "Services"), which is offered to all students.

Versatile PhD and ImaginePhD  are platforms where PhD students can learn how to apply their skills to both academic and non-academic fields, search job boards, and learn more about different career paths. Both resources are free to PhD students and can be accessed through students' MyNewSchool portal under the Services tab.

Don't forget to check out the LinkedIn job board for additional opportunities in various industries. Check out the new LinkedIn Students app, available for iOS and Android in the United States.

On-Campus Student Employment 

All degree and professional certificate students taking at least six credits can apply for on-campus employment (except international students with F-1 or J-1 visa status, who must be enrolled full-time to qualify). These are paid part-time jobs in offices around the university. You must follow the application submission instructions included in each listing. Listings of available openings and contact information are found online at the New School Job Site. Please note that the Center for Career Development does not manage on campus employment.

Graduate students seeking academic positions such as teaching or research assistantships can find opportunities through the New School teaching program, departments, and faculty, as well as occasional listings on the New School Job Site.

Federal Work-Study

If you have been granted federal work-study as part of your financial aid package, you can apply for a work-study job on or off campus. Information about federal work-study can be found on the Financial Aid website.
