The Philosophy minor is offered through Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts.
Students are introduced to philosophical traditions, approaches, questions, and ways of thinking. Learn more about the Philosophy program.
The minor in Philosophy requires completion of 20 credits outlined as follows:
- LPHI 2010 Philosophy 1: Ancient (4 credits)
- LPHI 2020 Philosophy 2: Modern (4 credits)
- 3 additional philosophy courses. Of these, all must be 3000 level or higher. Only one can be a cross-listed course or another course taken outside the concentration; this course must be approved by the chair. (12 credits)
Total credits: 20
Students must receive a grade of C or better in all courses to fulfill the minor. See the university course catalog for fall 2023 philosophy courses that fulfill these requirements.
Minors are available to undergraduate students across The New School.
Please meet with your Student
Success advisor to discuss how a minor will fit in with your overall degree
requirements. If you have additional questions about requirements for the
Philosophy minor that cannot be answered by your Student Success
advisor, please consult Dmitri Nikulin, Philosophy Director of Undergraduate Studies and Departmental Faculty Advisor, at [email protected].
