    Rebecca Alvin

    Profile

    Independent filmmaker, teacher, writer, and curator; has been making films and videos for over 25 years; her documentaries have been shown around the world, including at the Pompidou Center and at the Museum of Fine Arts/Boston; Editor of Provincetown Magazine; Founder/Programmer, Cape Cod Festival of Arab & Middle Eastern Cinema; Freelance writer with work published in Cineaste, Moviemaker, the Journal of Film and Video, and other periodicals.

    Research Interests

    Film exhibition/microcinema and the future of the arts in public spaces; Surrealism in both production and creative philosophy; Children's media — film in particular; Documentary film theory, production, and history; Arab cinema; Transgender issues in the media; and the potential of virtual reality cinema.
