Shenzhen: The Growth and Livability of a Mega-city
Shenzhen — today known as China's booming Silicon Valley — was a small fishing town 40 years ago (1979). Today, it ranks as one of China’s top mega-cities and is a leading example of urbanization in developing countries. However, what challenges come with rapid urban development and economic growth? What wisdom can other cities take away from Shenzhen's urbanization movement? My project is a Web application offering interactive storytelling about the growth and livability of Shenzhen. It gives users a glimpse of the city's growth and enables them to examine the city’s livability in terms of three aspects: Green Coverage, Hospital Accessibility, and Crime. This Web application is built with Javascript, HTML, CSS, Nuxt.js, Mapbox GL JS & Studio, D3.js, Baidu Map API, vue-scrollama.
