    Advising
Children of Leningradsky‚ was inspired by my trip to Russia earlier this year. The focus of this project is the unintentional style of street children near suburban Moscow. For these orphans, layers of oversized, ill-fitting clothing are key to surviving the cold Russian winter. However, the unexpected mixture of materials and the contrast between synthetic and organic textures found in their clothes bring a highly artistic quality to each piece. Inspired by the silhouette and composition of oversized clothes on Moscow's street children, I deconstructed and re-patterned many garments from the Salvation Army. I explored different ways of sandwiching and bonding fabrics as well as constructed pieces from materials such as trash bags and cardboard.
