The individual use of a collective space - Lounge for Newark Airport

How can a private area be included in a shared space without enclosing it? Ethereal boundaries work like filters, gradually unveiling the spaces in a slow and controlled transition. White vertical strings run through the lounge as undulating screens create intimacy without enclosing the space. These multiple strings create the impression of haze: from a distance, the user perceives a solid surface that dissipates as he or she gets closer, allowing him or her to see through the strings and into the contiguous space. www.sofia-burlo.com
